Quality of handmade paper is dependent on the raw materials used good quality paper relies on long fibers as the basis for strength, cotton rag and fibers are long, strong and hardy fibers when comparing them to re-cycled paper or wood pulp.

Our paper is made from cotton rags and renewable fibers where most of our competitors use re-cycled paper.

All paper is made from cellulose fibers the difference between handmade paper and mill made commercial paper is the raw materials used. Commercial mill made paper uses timber from forests which is a natural resource that is being depleted mainly by the paper industry. Commercial paper will face increasing pressure as this natural resource is depleted.

Depleting forests is not the only problem-facing mill made paper; they generate effluents that are toxic from all the chemical procedures that are used, emitting air pollutants that are destroying the environment.

The commercial paper industry will definitely see many changes over the next few decades in their use of raw materials and their disregard for the environment. Forest timber cannot cope with the demand for paper over the next 15 years, as 4 million hectares of forest will be needed to meet demand. We would like to be prepared and at the forefront of technology and the use of alternative raw materials utilizing agro-processing and other natural inputs and take advantage of this change in the paper industry on a commercial scale in the next 10 years.

This would see a huge turnaround in the industry and a percentage of sales from the monopolies being transferred to small-scale industry role players.

Our paper is environmentally and socially friendly paper. It is acid and chlorine free. Tree-free.

We are proudly South African.

We make use of T-shirt off cuts that would otherwise be burnt or thrown into landfills, damaging the environment.

The fiber we process is renewable; Sisal grows wild and is abundant and uses very little water to grow. Banana plants are chopped down by farmers regularly and thrown away.

• Sampling costs and design work for custom products will be charged for at an agreed rate


• Our paper is made from cotton waste, therefore allowances should be made for color variances and availability.
• Cotton paper is: More durable, stronger, lasts longer and is more malleable than commercial paper
• The hard wearing fibers do not crack.

 

It is ideal for all arts and crafts and bookbinding, it can be stitched, embroidered on, printed on, die-cut/embossed and dampened and molded into shape.
