Using 8 x 11" Paper in the Spellbinders Grand Calibur

The Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine allows a consumer to pass an 8 x 11" piece of paper through the machine with out trimming the paper. However, the edges of the paper will crinkle as they do so.

In the cases where a user actually wishes to use the full piece of paper as their die cut item they can preserve the edges by removing the tray.

To remove the tray

1.       Secure the Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine to a table, counter top or other smooth, strong surface by engaging the stability base.

2.      Pull the tray out until you are able to grip the sides with both hands.

3.      Tug FIRMLY with both hands straight out from the machine.

4.      The tray will pop out but will require some firm tugs.

The tray and machine should not be damaged. 8 x 11" paper will now pass through the machine without damage to the edges.

NOTE: The tray serves as a guide to align the plates as they feed into the machine. When using the machine without the tray take extra care to load the plates straight into the machine. The die cutting and embossing functionality is not affected by the tray.

To replace the tray:

1.       Align the grooves in the tray with the pink ?rails? inside of the opening of the Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine.

2.      Firmly push and tap the tray back into the unit taking care to keep it straight and even with the machine.

3.      The tray will then snap into place. If the sides should become unevenly entered into the machine, pull the tray back out and replace it keeping both sides straight.

My Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine handle needs lubrication.

If your Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine needs lubrication, you can remedy this quickly and easily.  Place a small drop of household dish detergent between the white and pink parts of the handle and rotate the handle to distribute.  Alternately, you can remove the handle, immerse the handle only into clean water with dish detergent. (This will also clean the white handle)

Do Not Use chemicals such as WD-40.

CAUTIONS

If the result of a die-cut is incomplete cuts, please add a shim (piece of paper at least as large as your die templates) between the Base Plate (A) and your die template to increase the pressure while die-cutting.

The Die/Embossing sandwich should be stacked in the correct order. Attempting to use incorrect plates may cause damage to the machine. Please be sure the combination of plates is correct.

If you have difficulty moving the sandwich through the machine, it may be caused by an incorrect combination of plates. Please reverse the handle to release the sandwich and check your plate combination. Forcing an incorrectly stacked sandwich through the Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine will cause damage to your machine.

As with any paper crafting device, from scissors to die cutters, please exercise caution. Our equipment and dies are not meant for use by unsupervised children. For safety, after use, store out of reach of children.
